Air Hong Kong carries Special Olympics flame
Air Hong Kong carried a unique consignment on Thursday, 16 August 2007, helping DHL transport the Special Olympics flame from Hong Kong to Incheon in Seoul.
This was the first time for AHK to carry such special cargo, and it was handled with great care on the LD128 service. As the flame was categorised a special dangerous goods item, approval had to be granted by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department and the authorities in Korea.
Modifications to the aircraft compartment were required in order to accomodate these two lamps carrying the flame, with DHL couriers onboard to ensure their safe carriage. AHK thanks CX team in Cargo and Engineering for their support.
Air Hong Kong will carry the flame again on Tuesday, taking it from Hong Kong to Narita on Tuesday, 21 August 2007
